ASL Play Group

Families are invited to participate in the weekly ASL Play Group, a community-led gathering designed to provide Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and signing children with opportunities to build friendships, develop language skills, and engage in meaningful social interaction through American Sign Language. This welcoming play group creates a safe and inclusive environment where children can be immersed in ASL communication while parents and caregivers connect with other families in the community.

Each week features outdoor play, socialization, and age-appropriate activities that encourage language development and community engagement. Locations rotate throughout the month, giving families the opportunity to enjoy different parks and recreational spaces while strengthening connections within the Deaf community.

During the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursdays, the play group meets at Karns Community Park in Knoxville. During the 2nd and 4th Thursdays, families gather at the Lenoir City Park Splash Pad. Participants are encouraged to bring chairs, water, snacks, and toys. For splash pad weeks, swimsuits, towels, and water toys are recommended.
